Welcome to the Plano Java User Group

Together we learn, explore, and share experiences working with new, cool, and advanced Java technologies, tools, and open source projects. We have meetings on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 9:15 am to 11:30 pm. Coffee social is at 9:15 a.m. Presentation starts at 9:30 a.m.

The meetings are held at the offices of IMC2 Inc. 12404 Park Central Dr Suite 400, Dallas, TX 75251
The garage entrance is off Churchill way (on the North end). Follow the sign for 12404 that you see on Churchill Way. Then enter through the East side of the building -- the most obvious entrance. Walk in through the door next to the revolving doors -- security guard will buzz you in. Sign in. Take the elevator to the 4rth floor. Take left, left from elevator (signs should be posted). Someone will be there to open the door and direct us to the "Sun" room or its alternate.

Sean Conlon will present Google Android

Summary:
Android is a software platform <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platform_%28computing%29>  and operating system <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system>  for mobile devices <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_device>  based on the Linux <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux>  operating system <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operating_system>  and developed by Google <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google>  and the Open Handset Alliance <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Handset_Alliance> .  This presentation will start with the over-arching goal of the OHA and Android projects, and then demonstrate how to get up and running with Android basics as quick as possible using Eclipse and the Android development kit.  We will also discuss where Android is going in the marketplace, and how the OHA plans to compete with the iPhone. 

Bio:
Sean Conlon is a Consultant with Credera. He graduated from Baylor University where he majored in Computer Science, and minored in Business. While in school, he was an intern, then part-time employee at PerotSystems. After PerotSystems, he worked as a Java programmer for a non-profit organization, until he graduated, where he helped to develop applications that are used in after-school programs for kids. Sean is also a Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP).
